Job Description This is a contract position with the following details:
Duration: 2 Months
Start Date: ASAP

A Family Contact Worker is required in Central London for a Children’s charity.  The Contact Worker job requires you to provide a range of support for children in care to spend time with their families. The job also requires you to promote, encourage and enable parents in practising safe and effective parenting skills and to support families to maintain or develop the quality of their contact.
 
Key Responsibilities of a Contact Worker:
To oversee a number of referred contacts.
To take responsibility for arranging the contacts
To ensure the space for contact are arranged
To participate in the planning and provision of contact to a range of children/young people and their families/ carers,
To maintain a high level of communication with children/young people and carers and to consult in the planning, delivery, and review of contact
To prepare and present reports and records 
 
 
 




Experience / Skills:

- NVQ3 in Child Care, Early Years or Play Work, NNEB, or equivalent
- Experience of working with children in need, contact work and direct work with children.
- Ability to supervise contact between children and their families  /carers
- Knowledge of relevant child care practice, legislation and research.
- Knowledge of child protection, indicators, issues, and procedures.
- Ability to work in partnership with families.
- Ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.
- Religious backgrounds.
- Effective team work and co-working skills.
- Establishing productive working relationships with children, families and staff from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Report writing skills.
- Effective communication (oral and written) and negotiating skills with a range of service users, staff and professionals
- Ability to plan and prioritise work
