New inspection framework for fostering care services in Wales now available

Written by The Editorial Team

The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) has published their new framework which will be used for inspections of local authority fostering services and foster care agencies from July this year.

The framework, which has been published on the CSSIW website, will be used until new regulations are published under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. It will then be reviewed to bring it in line where required.

All local authority fostering services inspected by CSSIW will receive an improvement letter if they need to improve, rather than the non-compliance notices used for foster care agencies.

This is because local authority fostering services are inspected by the CSSIW but not registered with them.

All fostering services/agencies will also now be given notice prior to their inspection.
