Launch for mental health guidelines Print E-mail
Written by The South Wales Evening Post
Tuesday, 12 June 2012
HEALTH and Social Services Minister Lesley Griffiths AM will today launch a guide for mental health service providers.

The Code of Practice to Parts two and three of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure along with Hafal's new guide, "Care and Treatment Planning: a step-by-step guide for secondary mental health service users" will be launched at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff.

The 16-page guide has been produced by Hafal, Wales's leading charity for people with serious mental illness and their carers, in collaboration with the Mental Health Foundation and Bipolar UK.

The information in the guide is based on experiences of more than 1,500 people with serious mental illness and their families.

Hafal chief executive Bill Walden-Jones said: "We have found that people have the best chance of achieving recovery from a mental illness if they take control of their own recovery, take all areas of life into consideration in planning recovery and act on a step-by-step plan towards recovery."
